To the men saying there are no good women in Lagos — a rebuttal from someone who actually dates

This has become a whole discourse, and honestly it’s more revealing about the people saying it than the reality. Here’s what I’ve learned dating in Lagos as a woman with a career and no patience for nonsense.

The complaint usually translates to ‘women won’t tolerate what previous generations tolerated,’ which is a very different claim than ‘there are no good women here.’ Standards changed. That’s not the same as scarcity.

I’m not saying dating here is easy. I’m saying the diagnosis is wrong, and wrong diagnoses lead to the same bad advice repeating in every comment section.
